PR inaugurates the electrical network of two administrative posts in Zambézia

The President of the Republic (PR) of Mozambique, Filipe Jacinto Nyusi, inaugurated, this Wednesday, July 27, 2022, the Electrical Networks of the Administrative Posts of Macuse, in the District of Namacurra, and Namanjavira, in the District of Mocuba, both in the Province of Zambézia.

The two projects were financed by the Government of Mozambique (GoM) in the amount of 224,195,187.84 Meticais, of which 124,288,660.01 Meticais were invested in the electrification of the Macuse Administrative Post (PA) headquarters and 99,906,527.83 Meticais in the from Namanjavira.

Speaking during the Macuse ceremony, the PR highlighted the electrification of Mozambique as an inclusive factor for all Mozambicans in the country's development. “Lighting up Mozambique is one of the ways of including everyone in the development process”, highlighted the Head of State, to then add that “the electrification of Administrative Posts is the most prominent manifestation within the framework of the country's economic transformation agenda, in this Governance cycle, as, in the last cycle, all district headquarters in Mozambique were electrified.”

According to Filipe Nyusi, the availability of energy, which the population of Macuse now enjoys, should serve to increase production in the sectors of agriculture, tourism, fishing and agro-processing of products extracted from the District of Namacurra.

In Namanjavira, the PR highlighted the Government's commitment to electrifying Mozambique. “We continue to work on expanding the electricity network. We are implementing the Caia-Nacala High Voltage Line construction project, which crosses the District of Mocuba. This project will increase the quality and reliability of electricity supply, as well as ensuring the connection of more of the population.

According to the Head of State, “from today onwards, the conditions have been created for more investments to be made for the benefit of the population of Namanjavira”, stated the PR, reminding the population that the electricity connection fee is free.

In both Administrative Posts, the PR called on the population to ensure the surveillance of electrical infrastructures, with the aim of preventing acts of vandalization and theft of electrical material.

It should be noted that the connections will be continuous, to guarantee universal access to energy for all Mozambicans by 2030.
