The electrical network of the Lissiete administrative post is inaugurated

The President of the Republic (PR) of Mozambique, Filipe Jacinto Nyusi, inaugurated, this Wednesday, November 2, 2022, the Electrical Network of the Administrative Post of Lissiete, in the District of Mandimba, in the Province of Niassa.

This is a project valued at more than 38 Million Meticais financed by the Government of Mozambique (GdM), whose construction work began in August 2021 and ended in April 2022.

The Project created around 45 jobs, including 35 at local level, throughout the execution phase, and another 10 for the contractor's technical staff.
During the inauguration ceremony, the President of the Republic highlighted that with the installation of the Lissiete Electric Grid, the Government is consistently continuing its efforts to achieve the goal of Universal Access to Energy for all Mozambicans by 2030.

“The population of Lissiete will start using energy to boost agro-processing activities and with lighting they will benefit from various services, including access to classes and health services during the night, as well as ensuring irrigation of fields and improve the water supply system for consumption”, said the PR.

The President of the Republic also highlighted that the Lissiete Electricity Network will allow the increase in agricultural production and marketing, the creation of new jobs for young people, as well as mechanization and income generation for families.

On the same occasion, the Head of State urged the community of Lissiete to actively participate in combating the vandalization of electrical infrastructures and energy theft.

“We must all participate in the fierce fight against energy theft and the vandalization of electricity transport and distribution infrastructures and community leaders must assume their vanguard role in this battle”, urged the President of the Republic.

The Lissiete Project consisted of the construction of 11 km of Medium Voltage Line and 7 km of Low Voltage Network. Likewise, 150 public lighting lamps and 04 (four) transformation stations were installed, totaling 375kVA of power, which ensured the connection of 371 consumers, out of the 500 planned in the first phase.

This line covers, on its route, the Headquarters of the Administrative Post of Lissiete and the Villages of Chitembuera and Ndima.

It should be noted that, this year, 10 (ten) Administrative Posts have already been electrified, 07 (seven) through the National Electricity Network and the remaining 03 (three) through alternative systems.
