Electricidade de Moçambique, E.P. (EDM) achieved another historic milestone by managing, for the first time in 45 years of activity, to make more than 300 thousand new electricity connections in eleven months, a figure that represents 94% in relation to target scheduled for the year 2022.
This milestone is the result of the effort that EDM is making in expanding the National Electricity Network (REN) in simplifying contracting processes and reducing waiting times for new connections, within the scope of the Government of Mozambique's initiative, “Energy for All ”, which aims to achieve the goal of Universal Access to Electricity by 2030.



To this end, through the Government of Mozambique, around 343 million dollars have already been mobilized, to continue guaranteeing the mass expansion of new connections, with Procurement processes being underway to hire suppliers of various materials, including consultants and contractors, for the implementation of works to expand the electrical network throughout the national territory.
It is important to note that all EDM Procurment strictly observes the Corporate Governance Policy, optimizing good practices of Integrity, Transparency and Accountability.
EDM continues to work and hopes to connect 320 thousand new customers across the country by the end of December this year.
To boost this activity and improve customer assistance, the Company is engaged in the process of digitizing and modernizing the Public Service System and equipping Picket Services with material and human resources, in order to respond to the demand for the growth in the number of new consumers of electricity, guarantee the provision of excellent services and, consequently, customer satisfaction.
